The mornings are getting cooler (and darker!), the leaves are turning - I guess that means summer is over! I'm still in denial, and the warm days haven't left us yet, so I'll pretend for a bit longer. Don't use the change of the seasons as an excuse to change your routine - keeping up a regular practice (either in class or at home) year round is the best way to maintain your wellbeing. Remember it's the small things that we do daily that make a difference. Brushing your teeth for a couple of minutes at a time, twice a day, keeps them in good shape. You wouldn't skip them for a week then brush them for 20 minutes on a Sunday! Apply the same mindset to other areas of your life and you'll be setting yourself up well for continued good health. 10 minutes of stretching and a few minutes of meditation daily can have a far greater impact than you can imagine, whereas unrolling your mat once a month and doing 2 hours won't give you the same benefits (and can do more harm than good if you overdo it!).
We have quite an international vibe happening with our two new teachers - Samantha Ford teaches Hatha Yoga on Wed at 6pm and Saturday at 9am. Sam hails from South Africa and is loving the Kiwi lifestyle. You'll find her easy to spot with her pink hair! Our other new addition is Sylvie Raynaud, who will be alternating the Sunday 4pm Yin Yoga class with Sarah, and is a bit of a gypsy but is originally from France. The studio will be closed on Good Friday, Easter Sunday and Easter Monday. There will be a 9am class on the Saturday of Easter weekend (March 26th).
Free Meditation Classes
There will be a free meditation class each Wednesday from 7.30-8.30pm, beginning Wed March 23rd. Studies have shown that meditation improves both physical and emotional responses to stress. The guided meditation that Sandra will be offering helps one to feel light, with inner space unrestricted from trapped emotions, afflictions and various habitual conditionings. The Mohanji Team have started a movement throughout the world, where teachers offer free sessions to the public, so that all can benefit from this path of light and love.
