Well summer is officially over (some might wonder if it really ever began, but we won’t dwell on that!) and we have lots of interesting stuff for you in this month’s newsletter – it’s a big one so make yourself a cuppa and get comfy! Yoga Beginners' Course
Have you wanted to try yoga but are feeling a little unsure about joining our regular classes? We have the perfect solution! Our new beginners' course offers the ideal introduction to yoga, suitable for any fitness level. Everyone starts together and progresses each week, so there's no need to worry that you'll be the only "newbie"! Wednesdays, 5.30-6.25pm, starts March 28th, runs for 6 weeks. $72 per person, bookings essential. (Teacher - Michelle)
Meditation Course
Regular meditation practice offers many benefits including reduced stress, increased clarity and focus, a calmer, more centred outlook on life - it can also improve the functioning of your immune system (great news as we head into winter!). However, people often don't know where to start, or they struggle to quiet the mind, giving up and deciding it's simply too hard. The good news is that EVERYONE can meditate. Our new 6-week programme will guide you through various techniques including breath and sound to bring relaxation and wellbeing. No experience necessary - suitable for absolutely everyone! Thurs 7.15-8.15pm, starts March 29, runs for 6 weeks. $72 per person, bookings essential. (Teacher - Cindy Aikman)
Naam Yoga Workshop
Naam Yoga is new to NZ and we are very excited to offer you this workshop with Cindy Aikman. Naam Yoga works with the power of the word. It is a complete science and yogic practice that works with sound, movement and breath to restore the flow of vital energy throughout the entire body. It is an invaluable self-healing technology that balances the brain,and the glandular, digestive and nervous systems, allowing people to experience vibrant health and wellbeing. Naam Yoga soothes your mind, body and soul - it is an unprecedented fusion of the practice of yoga with the wisdom and light of Universal Kabbalah, harmonizing one with the universe and the wisdom of this age. Client Story - Joyce
We have so many amazing clients here who truly inspire us, so we thought it would be nice to share some of those stories with you. We kick things off this month with Joyce Dixon's story, in her own words -
"Hi, my name is Joyce. Soul Space was recommended to me by my physio when he realised he could do no more for me. I had been seeing him for shoulder pain, and both upper and lower back pain, all of which I've had for many years and for which now, at the age of 61, I relied on a lot of painkillers and anti-inflammatories to get me through the days.
After an initial assessment with Michelle, it was suggested that I have private sessions to start with as I couldn't even get up or down to sit on a box, let alone the floor! After 2 months of these, my core strength increased to the extent that I can now get up from the floor unassisted, and I am now able to join in the Pilates mat classes.
I no longer have the continuous pain in my back and am able to raise my arms above my head without pain in my shoulders, and I can move much more freely throughout my whole body. I don't have to take drugs to be able to function either!
In the group sessions I work at my own pace. Everyone is so supportive and I find Michelle's guidance and positivity helpful - she encourages me so much. I cannot imagine giving up Pilates now - I want to stay pain-free so I will be doing it for life!"
